Tackling The Hard Jobs
Excavating and Trenching
Excavate- [eks-kuh-veyt]
1) to make hollow by removing the inner part; make a hole or cavity in; form into a hollow, as by digging
2) to expose or lay bare by or as if by digging; unearth
3) to dig a hole or channel in the ground, especially with a machine

Excavating is a process that starts with careful planning to determine the right tool(s) for the job and identify any risks (buried utilities, overhead electrical lines, proximity of structures/foundations to excavations, etc.). From there we develop plans to mitigate those risks to ensure a safe and successful project. Many projects use mechanical excavation (the use of heavy equipment) and hand digging to achieve the desired result. In some cases we employ the use of a hydro-vac truck when working on or near sensitive underground utilities such as gas or water mains.
So what types of projects do we work on?
We do a variety of projects of all sizes in both residential and commercial applications; if there's dirt being moved chances are we are there and sometimes even when there isn't dirt being moved we are still there. Examples of the type of projects we do are water/sewer service connections, trenching, ditching, grading, stump removal, septic system installations, land clearing, site preparation, culvert installations, pool excavations, foundation excavations and more. We can even come and help lift or move something extra heavy.
Have a finished yard that you only want work done in a certain section? We can bring the machine into sensitive areas. There are solutions we use to help minimize the impact of work when ever possible and only focus on the areas in need.
When calling to have excavation work done its important to have the right people on the job. We have a certified journeyman working on all underground piping systems, adding a further layer of protection to ensure your project is built to last.
We excavate anywhere in the southern and central Okanagan including Penticton, Summerland, Okanagan Falls, Oliver, Peachland, West Kelowna, Kelowna and beyond. While we list these areas it is by no means exhaustive as we have ventured from the coast to the Kootenays for projects.

Excavating isn't just about digging a hole with a shovel or a machine.
-It's about being conscious of whats around you and about the things below the ground that we cannot see.
-It's about understanding risks and mitigating them.
-It's also about being environmentally aware by ensuring we disturb only what is required and we do so as efficiently as possible.
At Lynx Industries we take time and care to ensure that every time a shovel or bucket bites the dirt, every effort has been made to be sure of what is beneath so you have peace of mind knowing that your project can move ahead smoothly.
